I joined Higgs LLP in 2026 as part of the acquisition of Vialex Limited. I worked for Vialex for almost 13 years, most of which were spent in the legal counsel service. Prior to this, I was a corporate partner in a large Scottish law firm.
My previous experience also includes serving on the in-house legal team at a major renewable energy company and working as a legal consultant for a Scottish house builder. Both of these roles highlighted to me the importance of managing legal risks in a commercial environment.
As a member of the legal counsel service team, I advise on a wide range of commercial matters. These include terms and conditions, international distribution and logistics arrangements, service agreements, various types of sponsorship, marketing, and PR contracts, as well as any other general legal enquiries that may come across my desk.
Providing such varied advice means I need a good understanding of our clients' businesses and ultimate goals to ensure the advice I provide is both practical and tailored to their needs.
- Acted for one of the world's foremost laboratory testing groups for over 10 years on a variety of commercial matters in the aerospace, environmental and energy sectors
- Acted for the UK's leading meat-free brand for over 10 years in relation to all their commercial legal work
- Acted for a large independent Scottish drinks distiller on several commercial matters, including sports sponsorship agreements, celebrity endorsement agreements and international distribution agreements
- Acted for a market-leading dessert company in relation to its production line procurement contracts and individual supplier arrangements
- Acted for a fourth-generation family-owned business on a range of matters from putting in place NDAs and standard terms and conditions to providing specific sanctions and compliance advice
- Acted for various professional practice partnerships (e.g. lawyers, doctors and vets) by putting in place partnership/LLP agreements
