"I'm an experienced corporate and banking lawyer who provides clear, pragmatic and client-focused commercial advice.”

I advise companies and business owners on a wide range of corporate transactions, including acquisitions and disposals, management buy-outs, joint ventures and private equity investments.

Alongside my corporate practice, I have a particular focus on debt and finance work and regularly advise borrowers on a broad range of financing transactions, including acquisition finance, real estate finance and asset finance. I also have extensive experience advising on loan notes and other forms of subordinated and investor debt, as well as intercreditor arrangements.

I enjoy building strong relationships with clients throughout a transaction and beyond. I take the time to understand each client's business and objectives so that the advice I give is practical, relevant and commercially focused.

In my spare time, I teach on the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh, where I have been a tutor on the banking elective for the last 13 years.

I joined Higgs LLP in 2026 as part of the acquisition of Vialex Limited.

  • Advising N4 Investments Limited on its acquisition of Customworks Limited, an art and design giftware company supplying major international museums, galleries, theatres and heritage sites. This transaction was supported by co-investment funding from Foresight Group.
  • Advising Highland Coast Hotels Limited on the terms of a £4.5m loan from Scottish National Investment Bank to fund upgrades to its portfolio of hotels along the North Coast 500 Route, in turn supporting tourism and employment in the surrounding communities.
  • Advising a long-term client on the corporate and financing aspects of its first commercial property acquisition, a significant development of 105,000 sq ft of prime industrial and logistics space through a joint venture with an established sector operator.
  • Advising the shareholders of Macsween of Edinburgh Limited, a 3rd generation family company which has been at the forefront of haggis and black pudding making for 70 years, in relation to the acquisition of a controlling interest in that company by Macsweenallan Food Group.
  • Advising the shareholders of an owner-managed business in relation to a VIMBO transaction – transitioning ownership to an existing management team for day one cash consideration and secured deferred consideration.
  • Advising the shareholders of Fine Food Holdings Limited, parent company of Clarks Speciality Foods Limited (a supplier of premium Scottish cheeses, patisserie ingredients and artisan deli products to leading hotels, restaurants and specialist retailers across the country) on its sale to Lomond Fine Foods Limited.
  • Advising the shareholders of a long-established, family-run automotive business on its sale to a well-known national operator expanding into the Scottish market.
