Seona Burnett

I joined Higgs in 2026 as part of the acquisition of Vialex Limited. Prior to joining Vialex, I was a partner in a UK and international law firm. 

I am part of the legal counsel service team, providing day-to-day commercial legal advice to clients on a wide range of matters. 

I advise on intellectual property, information technology and commercial contracts, as well as a broad range of operational legal matters. This includes sales and procurement, advertising and marketing, software licensing and development agreements, and commercial arrangements such as agency, distribution and logistics.

Through the legal counsel service, I work closely with clients to understand the commercial strategy and business environment that underpin the day-to-day operations of their businesses. This allows me to provide advice in context and focus on pragmatic, commercially driven solutions.

I am a founder and committee member of the Scottish IP Network 

I am a guest IP lecturer at the University of Aberdeen and an IP advisor to the Blueremediomics Horizon Research Project

I am ranked by Chambers UK 2026 for Intellectual Property.

I am the secretary of Harmeny Athletic Club.
