I joined Higgs LLP in September 2021 as an office assistant alongside completing a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship. Prior to joining Higgs, I studied A Level Law, Business and Politics.
Upon completion of my apprenticeship I was selected to be Higgs’ first undergraduate solicitor apprentice, working 4 days a week while studying to achieve a Qualifying Law Degree and eventually to qualify as a solicitor.
I support the Charity & Not For Profit team by providing my assistance in reviewing matters, drafting documentation, conducting legal research and providing work involved in the daily administration of charities.
I am a member of the Charity Law Association, Birmingham Trainee Solicitors Society and the Junior Lawyers Division as well as involving myself in charitable and social events throughout Higgs.
- Handling my first ever initial client call to discuss the Charity’s background and the support they need from the team.
- Helping out with the Higgs LLP annual charity conference.
- Attending regular Trustee meetings to provide support in administrative work.
- Providing support in the daily administration of a large grant making charity by communication with Trustees, beneficiaries, investment managers and banks, preparing meeting papers and governance documents.
- Advising on the requirements to release permanent endowment and preparing related documents to receive relevant consents from the Charity Commission.
- Assisting in the guidance of incorporating an unincorporated charity and producing ancillary documents.
- Involvement in preparing advice and documents for disposal of charity land and property.
- Review of corporate structures connected to a charitable entity.
- Preparation of charitable policies and governance documents
