Karan Bassi

I work closely with other members of the Residential Development team and together they can advise on the full lifecycle of residential development projects – from strategic land acquisition and site assembly to infrastructure delivery, planning obligations, and final plot disposals.  I have a strong commercial grasp of the development process and regularly negotiate complex land promotion agreements, options, conditional contracts, overage deeds, and collaboration agreements.

Over the years, I have acted on high-value strategic land sales and acquisitions involving phased development. More recently, I have acted on the sale of a smaller development, which required extensive negotiations with the adjoining homeowners for the release of restrictive covenants burdening the land in question.  My clients value my ability to navigate title constraints, unlock land value, and manage risk through clear, practical legal advice tailored to commercial objectives.

Recognised for being responsive, pragmatic, and commercially minded, I have built long-term relationships with clients and play an integral role as part of their land and planning teams.  I  regularly work in collaboration with surveyors, planners, and technical consultants to ensure that legal input is aligned with the wider commercial strategy.
