Ruth Gladwell
Head of HR Projects - Navigator
"I have over 30 years in human resource management obtained from a broad spectrum of organisations operating either in house or in an advisory capacity. ”
Having joined the Navigator team in October 2020, I lead on HR projects. I am a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and an ILM-accredited Professional Workplace Mediator.
Initially working as a people manager, I pursued my interest in human resources and obtained my first CIPD qualifications while working in the financial services sector in the City of London. When relocating to Edinburgh in 2006, I actively sought opportunities to broaden my experience, gaining exposure to unionised, multi‑site manufacturing and heavy industry environments. I found myself working within organisations that were experiencing growth organically and through mergers and acquisitions, and I understood how to navigate complex TUPE transactions and change programmes whilst supporting the wider employment lifecycle.
These valuable experiences have supported my move into consultancy, enabling me to apply the transferability of my HR skill set across any environment.
- Translate employment law in any sized organisation operating in any industry.
- Demonstrating the value of people management in any environment.
- Being able to understand a clients’ business and deliver a people management project even though I’ve not worked in that sector previously.
- Supporting an Operational team TUPE transfer employees from 11 legal entities across 7 UK locations.
- Always learning from my past mistakes!
