Higgs LLP ranks highly in Law Guide

Higgs LLP is celebrating after receiving strong praise and recommendations across multiple practice areas in this year’s Legal 500.

The eagerly-awaited Legal 500 2022 list has been published and has commended several Higgs teams, as well as singling out some of the firm’s high-performing lawyers for particular acclaim.

The Legal 500 is an independent guide and firms and individuals are recommended purely on merit.

The Higgs Corporate & Commercial and Family teams were ranked in the top tier of firms.

The Corporate & Commercial team was described as ‘commercially orientated’, ‘modern’ and ‘innovative’ in the way it acts for entrepreneurs, OMBs and corporates - both domestic and international - on a range of transactions.

The ‘fantastically knowledgeable’ Richard Griffiths and John Heaton were particularly acclaimed for their corporate finance work, with the former leading the corporate department and the latter heading the wider business services practice.

The Family team, meanwhile, was praised for its ‘professionalism’ and ‘kindness’.

The firm had seven lawyers listed in the elite ‘Leading Lawyers’ list: John Heaton (Corporate and Commercial), Philip Barnsley (Family), Kirsty McEwen (Charities and Not-for-profit), Julia Lowe (Commercial Litigation), Cherry Elliott (Commercial Property), Craig Ridge (Contentious Trusts and Probate) and Andy Shaw (Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence).

Kirsty McEwen was said to have ‘outstanding knowledge of the charity sector’ as the Charities and Not-for-profit team secured Tier 2 status.

Nick Taylor, Managing Partner of Higgs LLP, said: “We are delighted with our showing in this year’s Legal 500 listings.  Our strong rankings across the board demonstrate our commitment to providing quality services across all practice areas.

“In a year like no other, our team has once again proved itself to be exceptional. I’m proud of the seven colleagues who have been named on the Leading Lawyers list, but this success is a result of hard work across the board.

“Our people are so important to us and we thank them for their efforts and professionalism.”

In testimonials, Higgs LLP was described as ‘unique’, ‘practical’ and ‘dependable’ with a ‘passion for excellence’.

Higgs LLP also has a proud record of developing and nurturing legal talent. Jamie Partington and Rhian Gray were highlighted as a ‘Next Generation Partners’ while Katie Williems, Eillie Williams, Steven Santy and Sue Allen were commended as ‘Rising Stars’ in their respective fields.

As well as Charities and Not-for-profit, Higgs LLP was also recognised as Tier 2 in Commercial Litigation and Commercial Property.
