Higgs LLP Head of Property, Jen Hicks-Jones is celebrating an award-winning 12 months of strong performance, major transactions and internal growth since taking the helm in May 2024.
Jen has a wealth of experience and has overseen a year of sustained progress for the team, with notable wins and strategic expansion of the firm’s client base. The team’s recent success stories include:
- completing a strategic acquisition of a new unit in Shropshire for a multinational electrical distribution business
- being appointed to advise a further education provider in relation to the substantial refurbishment of a new sixth form centre
- advising Birmingham LGBT on its new office and retail lease in the city centre
- advising on the multi-million-pound sale of HG Timber Limited
- advising on a Smart Media project for one of the country’s largest mixed-use institutional landlords
- advising the shareholders of the Lovely Pubs group on the sale of their business.
Based in the firm’s flagship Waterfront Business Park office in Brierley Hill, Jen joined the firm in 2018 as an Associate and now in 2025 is leading a team of almost 30 lawyers which last year accounted for 15% of the firm’s annual turnover.

Truly cementing their position as regional leaders and the go-to legal team for property advice, they won Property Law Firm of the Year at the Midland Property and Investment Awards in September 2024 and were also finalists for Property Law Firm of the Year at the Insider West Midlands Awards in November last year.
Speaking about the ongoing success of the team, Jen said, “When I joined Higgs almost seven years ago, I knew this was the firm I wanted to grow into – now as head of the team I’m very excited to be leading a team of such excellent lawyers with a very clear growth strategy. We have continued to deepen our relationships with clients across the West Midlands and beyond, whilst still investing in new talent, service innovation and collaborative working across the business".
