Leading legal firm Higgs LLP has advised two different healthcare groups on the sales of their businesses.
A multi-disciplinary team from Higgs business services, corporate law, commercial property, employment law and corporate tax teams supported the legal work to ensure all areas of the transactions were covered.
The team advised the majority shareholder on the sale of Regis Healthcare Limited, which ran Wales’ only Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) low-secure hospital, to Elysium Healthcare.
The hospital moved its 190 staff over to Elysium, which is owned by Ramsay Healthcare and has healthcare facilities in Europe, Asia and Australia.
Higgs also advised shareholders on the sale of Henry Newton Care Limited and its subsidiary Newlyn Court, which operated the Newlyn Court Care Home, Bilston, to C&C Alpha Healthcare Group Ltd, which is developing specialised healthcare services in the UK and overseas.
After the completion of the sale, Jamie Morgan, of Regis Healthcare, said: “I am delighted that Elysium will be taking these services forward. It is an exciting time for staff to be joining the company and I know that the services will continue to flourish with their leadership.”
Geoff Kettle, Partner in the corporate law team and project lead for both transactions, said: “Our specialist teams worked extremely hard to support the shareholders in both of these sales and we are pleased to have completed both transactions to all parties’ satisfaction.
“Our cross-team working ensured that all the legal areas were covered, creating a smooth transition for our clients in these complex transactions.”
