Claraine Walker

I joined the Court of Protection team at Higgs LLP in September 2021.

I am passionate about Court of Protection work and supporting and empowering vulnerable people and those closest to them. Before joining Higgs, I was a legal advisor in the Court of Protection Team at another law firm based in Birmingham City Centre for over 5 years and I managed a DWP appointee and money management service for over 5 years before that.

I am experienced with managing all aspects of a person’s property and financial affairs including:

• Welfare benefits claims and appeals
• Residential and commercial rental property portfolios
• Applications for funding for care
• Direct employment of care staff
• Buying, selling and adapting property

I also:

• Provide advice to lay and professional deputies in relation to their role as deputy
• Prepare applications to the Court of Protection
• Provide advice on the funding of care in care homes or in a person’s own home

I am an associate member of Cilex and I am continuing to study towards qualifying as a Cilex Lawyer.
