Dedicated immigration law solicitors providing pragmatic legal advice

Immigration law is an increasingly significant issue for UK businesses – our experts will help you navigate the complexities of new immigration laws, which now make no distinction between EEA and non-EEA nationals.

We will help you determine whether a sponsorship licence is appropriate for your business, assist with the application process, and advise on the Skilled Worker visa route and on alternative visa categories with the right to work in the UK.

We can help you with all requirements, from right-to-work checks to ongoing employer duties, and will provide training to HR teams on all aspects of business immigration.

For individuals, we can advise on other visa options that may be suitable, including the Innovator and Start-up visa routes, as well as the Global Talent visa.

How can our immigration lawyers help?

Sponsorship licences

If you have established that a particular job is eligible for a Sponsorship Licence via the Skilled Worker route, and subsequently have to apply for a sponsorship licence from the Home Office, our team will be there to help you with your application. We can also help you with renewing an existing license.

The Skilled Worker route is the primary UK visa for foreign nationals with an offer of employment from a UK-approved sponsor. This will allow them to live and work in the UK for up to five years, and can lead to settlement after that initial 5-year period.

The visa requires 70 points based on skill level, English proficiency and salary.

Visa routes

If you do not have approval for a Skilled Worker visa, several other visa routes could be suitable for you and your employee, which also allow them to work in the UK.

These include the Youth Mobility Scheme, UK Ancestry visa, British Nationals (overseas) visa, Graduate visa, family visa, and a High Potential Individual visa.

Our team will sit with you to understand the circumstances of your business and your potential employee, guiding you through your options and supporting you with any suitable application, including compliance matters.

Compliance and reporting

We will always ensure you’re compliant with any decision you make regarding your employees who may be on a visa.

Penalties for non-compliance with UK immigration law can be harsh, including fines and, in severe cases, prison. We will be with you from recruitment through to work checks and when you start recording and reporting, including reporting to the Home Office, audits and inspections.

Individual via routes

If you are an owner-managed business, you may be considering opening new premises in the UK. Alternatively, you may be looking to start your own business. Either way, we can advise you on the Innovator and Start-up Visa routes, as well as the Global Talent Visa, which may help you start up or scale up.

Training

The Home Office expects anyone who employs migrant workers under an approved visa route to also understand their duties as an employer.

As part of our services to you, our team will provide you and your employees with all the training and resources you need to stay compliant with immigration law and understand your duties.
