Higgs LLP : Latoyah Thompson

I graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2012 with a second class first division Criminology and Criminal Justice with Law degree.

I then worked at Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), an executive agency to the Ministry of Justice, as an Administrative Officer within the Supervision and Investigation Services department, A Litigation Support Officer, Litigation Support Manager and Operational Delivery Manager – within the Legal department.

Within these roles I supported executive case managers, closely supported in-house government lawyers to represent the Public Guardian within the Court of Protection in applications relating to Lasting Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Attorney and court appointed deputies and assisted the head of legal to solidify legal internal processes.

I possess a wealth of experience in dealing with matters relating to the Court of Protection, including contentious and non-contentious litigation.

I am extremely passionate about this area of law. Being able to make a positive difference to people’s lives and their family’s lives is extremely rewarding.

I aspire to be solicitor in the future and hope to qualify through the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) route.
