I began my journey towards Court of Protection in 2011 managing a DWP Corporate Appointee and Money Management service in a housing association aimed predominantly at clients with modest income and assets who were usually in receipt of welfare benefits.
I joined a well-known law firm in Birmingham in 2016 as a Legal Caseworker in the Court of Protection Team, managing the financial affairs of clients who lacked the capacity to do so themselves until I joined Higgs LLP in September 2021 as a Court of Protection Advisor.
My roles have involved managing all aspects of a person’s finances from modest benefit income to multi-million-pound damages awards and everything in between. I have experience with a range of issues including the management of rental properties, the direct employment of care staff, significant property adaptations and self-builds and the resolution of disputes such as with property ownership, the funding of care and investigating the conduct of previously appointed attorneys and deputies.
I am currently an Associate Member of CILEX and I am continuing to study towards my qualification as a Chartered Legal Executive. I wish to specialise as a Court of Protection lawyer as it is an area I am deeply passionate about.
