Higgs & Sons expands property team with trio of new recruits

Leading law firm Higgs & Sons has continued its growth by strengthening its commercial property team with three new hires.

The Brierley Hill-based firm has seen huge demand in its commercial property services from both sole traders and national companies.

Three new recruits have been brought in to help with demand - Jay Singh, Darrell Aldridge and Charlotte Stagg.

Jay, an experienced commercial property solicitor, has joined as Associate. He focusses particularly on securing lending and real estate finance and also works across sectors including healthcare, retail, manufacturing and housing.

“I enjoy working with businesses to add value to their real estate transactions, be it moving premises or buying an investment property,” added Jay.

Darrell, who has experience working at a large international law firm in Birmingham, joins Higgs as a Solicitor.

He said: “I have primarily acted for national developers and investors of commercial property over the past three years. I also have vast experience acting for landlords, tenants and lenders in the commercial property sphere.”

Darrell’s experience ranges from high street lettings to large scale multi-million pound investment transactions – and everything in between. He has a practical and commercial approach to achieve client goals and provides proven business solutions to property opportunities.

Keen runner Charlotte, meanwhile, has joined as a Paralegal in the Construction Department.  She studied Law with French Law at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2019 before cutting her teeth at a Birmingham firm advising large and regional developers.

Charlotte said: “Having worked in construction law since leaving university, I have experience working for a range of project stakeholders on both commercial and residential projects and I have drafted and negotiated many of the necessary documents needed throughout the lifecycle of a project such as building contracts, appointments, novation agreements and collateral warranties taking into consideration the commercial climate and the unique requirements of the client.”

Cherry Elliott, Head of Property at Higgs, said: “We are delighted to welcome these new recruits to the team as we continue to expand and build on our breadth of experience and expertise within the commercial property team.

“This is an exceptionally busy time across the firm but in particular within the property teams. We have been at the heart of the commercial property sector for many years and our experience allows us to offer clear, commercially astute advice aimed at adding value to businesses.”
